Daniel Ricciardo is known as a driver who always performs well in Monaco. Last Thursday he did not make the best impression during the first two free practice sessions. The Australian doesn't know what caused this.

The former driver of Red Bull Racing and Renault is doing very well in his McLaren after a bad start of the season. Ricciardo conquered 24 points in the world championship so far and is in seventh place, just behind Sergio Pérez. During the first day of the race weekend in Monaco, things went a lot less well.

Ricciardo drove the fifteenth fastest time of the practice session twice. "I have no lack of confidence in the car," he told Speedweek. "But somehow I couldn't translate that into a good lap time. I'm frustrated. You think after one lap on board, 'That was decent now.' And then the instrument panel says: 12th or 15th, one time I was even only 17th."

Ricciardo disappointed with speed

The McLaren driver finds it hard to name where it goes wrong. "I'm way too slow and I don't really know where to make up for it," said Ricciardo, who saw his teammate Lando Norris do a lot better with seventh and sixth times.
