Horner on fastest lap point for Perez: "Stuck with our strategy"

Christian Horner is not only happy with Max Verstappen's performance, but also with Sergio Perez's fourth place. Perez did not pit to try and take the extra world championship point from Lewis Hamilton.
Thanks to Perez's good day Red Bull also took over the lead in the Constructors' Championship from Mercedes. This is the first time for the Austrian racing team in the current hybrid era. "Checo also had great pace today and he was able to make the overcut work. He was able to overtake Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly as a result.
No pit stop for Perez
Hamilton did go on to take the extra World Championship point. Perez also had room for a 'free' pit stop, but in the end the Mexican stayed out. "We thought about it and knew there was a podium if we kept the pressure on Lando. At that point Lewis was posting purple sectors so that is why we stuck with our strategy," he said.
It's only going to get more exciting in the World Championship. "I am sure the pressure only grows in this business." The investigation into Red Bull's 'flexi-wings' ensures that the battle between the two rivals will not only be fought on the track, but also alongside it. "I think we are happy with where we are and the FIA has their position on this but we will go to Baku and fight and see what we get."
