Van Kalmthout is ecstatic: 'These four laps are the best ever'

Rinus van Kalmthout drove a great qualifying session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Ed Carpenter Racing driver had qualified in fifth place for the 'Fast Nine', but on Sunday he even managed to set third fastest time, good for a place on the front row of the grid. Only Scott Dixon and Colton Herta were ahead of him.
In his last of four laps, things almost went wrong when the Dutchman experienced massive oversteer in the first corner. "It was on the edge, but I kept my foot on the accelerator. I knew beforehand that the first corner was the most difficult. Once I got through that, the other three corners would be relatively easier for me," he explained in the press release.
Veekay very happy
In the United States 'Veekay' had an excellent day. He himself is completely satisfied. "These four laps were the best four laps I have ever driven. I'm extremely happy to have the #21 Bitcoin Chevrolet on the front row of the grid. Ed Carpenter Racing did a great job. My team owner Ed will start on the inside of the second row in starting spot four, and together we are the best Chevrolet drivers."
All other cars in the top-nine are running Honda engines. The Japanese power unit is considered slightly stronger, but Ed Carpenter Racing's cars have insane handling. Moreover, Chevrolet has also made strides, according to Van Kalmthout."I would like to thank Chevrolet, because I was happy with the engine. Now of course I want to go for the milk and the Borg Warner Trophy!"
