Giovinazzi prepares for first driver role: 'He gives us this guarantee'

Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur outlines Antonio Giovinazzi's learning curve in an interview and anticipates being able to build on the driver after Kimi Raikkonen's possible exit from Formula One.
In an interview with the Italian branch of Motorsport.com Vasseur states that he can see a significant change with Giovinazzi; he is no longer setting himself up in relation to his much more experienced teammate but is now putting all the focus on his own ability. Vasseur: "Probably one of the problems he had in the past was that he wanted to focus on Kimi as a reference."
The team boss continued: "I think the big change was the decision to focus solely on himself and the work he is capable of doing."
First driver?
"It is not a foregone change", Vasseur also knows, "we know that the first point of reference for every rider is his teammate, but Antonio has changed his approach and we have seen the results. Now he has a solid position in the team, and this is also important for the team."
