Perez: 'We couldn't show it at the moment that really matters'

Red Bull Racing's RB16B seems to be working well on the Baku circuit, but the results of the qualifying session don't exactly reflect that as Sergio Perez will have to start from seventh on the grid.
During qualifying for the Baku Grand Prix, there were many crashes, resulting in no less than four red flags. That wasn't always to Red Bull's advantage. "It was very unfortunate today. We had a lot of speed here until qualifying, all weekend long. But today we couldn't do the perfect lap when it really mattered in Q3," Sergio Perez told Ziggo Sport.
Points to be shared on Sunday
The Mexican, however, remains positive for the race on Sunday "It's unfortunately how it is, let's see what we can do tomorrow during the race. It's a long race, so qualifying is not the most important thing. We still have everything to fight for. Anything can happen. We have to keep our heads down and get results tomorrow," concluded the Red Bull Racing driver.
The Mexican's position could also give the team a strategic advantage over Mercedes. Although Lewis Hamilton will start just ahead of Max Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas will have to start the race from tenth position, behind Perez.
