Charles Leclerc narrowly missed out on the podium last Sunday. The Monegasque failed to pass Pierre Gasly on the final lap in Azerbaijan, but Leclerc was still happy. He saw Sebastian Vettel return to the podium.
Leclerc and Vettel may have clashed on track during their time at Ferrari, but off track the two have always been respectful of each other. Leclerc has often said he has a lot of respect for the four times world champion, and now, after missing out on a podium himself, he is happy for Seb.
Cheering for Vettel
''I've always been impressed by his experience. In some situations he had great analytical skills. I learned a lot from Seb in that area. He has a great eye for detail, and that makes a lot of difference on the track. Besides that, Seb is just a good person,'' Leclerc said according to Speedweek.com.
''In Baku I was surprised by the performance of Aston Martin. I didn't expect them to be so fast. It will be interesting to see if they can continue that step. For Seb, I'm extremely happy that he finished second. I'm also happy for my mate Pierre Gasly. It was exciting in the last two laps, but he was just a bit faster," concluded the Ferrari driver.
