Max Vestappen dominated last weekend's Steiermark Grand Prix and as a result, he scored six points more than Lewis Hamilton in the battle for the championship. That lead is now 18 points. Helmut Marko is also quite satisfied.

To The Telegraph he says Red Bull has learned from moments in the past. "We have learned from our mistakes. Mercedes made such a move last year with the engine, but Honda has responded this year. In terms of power source, we are more or less equal. Also the car itself is now competitive from day one."

Marko sees Mercedes doing 'funny things'

Mercedes are pulling out all the stops so far this season to stay close to Red Bull. Both on and off the field. "They do funny things, to stay polite," said Marko. "They complain about our rear wing, about our pit stops and about all sorts of things. If Mercedes don't do it themselves, they'll use a team like Aston Martin to do it. We focus on racing and try to make sure nothing stops us. Mercedes are now missing their 50bhp advantage that they've had for seven years. But the fastest car on the straight was now the McLaren, with a Mercedes engine. They are not used to this situation at Mercedes."

Marko will be hoping that, despite all the off-track distractions, Red Bull will just stay consistent on the track and can deliver Verstappen a championship this year. So far, no matter what Mercedes try, this is going more than fine. Verstappen leads the dance in the championship, while among the constructors, Red Bull has a 40 point lead over Mercedes.
