Verstappen impresses: 'He makes so few mistakes'

Another exciting Formula 1 season is finally here. Gerhard Berger is thoroughly enjoying the fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and couldn't suppress a smile when Verstappen did a burn-out on the straight.
Faultless Verstappen
Formula 1 still produced plenty of interesting races in recent years, but a truly exciting championship hasn't been seen since 2016, and then the duel was between two drivers from the same team. We have to go back to 2012 for the last time two drivers from different teams competed against each other, and people may have forgotten how that felt.
Gerhard Berger certainly did, as he is starting to become a fan of F1 again this season. ''This is the best of Formula 1 we've seen in a long time, and I'm slowly starting to become a fan again. Max now has everything he needs to become world champion. He is ripe for his first world title,'' Berger told ServusTV.
Nonsense in F1
''We now have a real duel between a young driver like Max, and an experienced guy like Lewis. We are now experiencing something that used to be normal. Now it's Red Bull against Mercedes before it was Williams against Ferrari or McLaren against Williams. Verstappen really impresses me with how much he has learned, and how few mistakes he makes now. Those two (Hamilton and Verstappen) are the reason why we have such a great duel this year.''
Verstappen received a warning after the race for his burnout on the straight, but Berger thinks this kind of thing should be allowed more. ''A warning is appropriate here, but I would like to see it like in MotoGP, where some drivers really make a show of it after the race. There should be room for that kind of nonsense in Formula 1 as well'', the Austrian concludes.
