Binotto: "For us, third place is a goal, but not the most important one"

With both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in the points Ferrari managed to gain four points on their nearest competitor McLaren. The battle for third place in the championship is now twelve points in favour of the English team.
Ferrari's problems not over yet
After a disappointing French Grand Prix, in which the Ferrari's finished eleventh and sixteenth, the result in Austria (sixth and seventh) was a nice boost for the Italian team. According to team principal Mattia Binotto the problems of Ferrari are not completely solved yet.
"We haven't fully addressed the problem of France yet, without a doubt," Binotto told The official website of Formula 1. "In France we could have done some things differently and improved our performance there. But I think in general the car has some weaknesses that you haven't seen here [in Austria] and going back to Silverstone, Silverstone could be another difficult circuit for us - high speed corners and a lot of energy in the tyres."
Battle for third place
McLaren and Ferrari will decide who will finish third and fourth in the Constructors' Championship this season. Red Bull and Mercedes are clearly ahead of both teams and at the back AlphaTauri and Aston Martin are still way behind. Nevertheless, the priority this season is not necessarily on gaining that third spot, Binotto reveals.
"How much is it important for us to take points from McLaren? It isn't," said Binotto. "As I said at the beginning of the season, our main goal is to make sure we make progress. For us, third place is a goal, but not the most important thing. The most important thing is to improve as a team and be competitive in the future."
