Horner: "That makes it interesting in terms of strategy"

Red Bull are pretty happy with how the first day of the Austrian Grand Prix has gone. The Milton Keynes-based team did see Lewis Hamilton top the timesheet during the second free practice session, but Red Bull still seems to have something up its sleeve.

"You're always learning, even when you're following a car or when there's rain," Christian Horner told Sky Sports at the end of the second free practice session about some drops falling on the tarmac. In any case, the British team boss is curious about Sunday's strategies. "The long runs are a bit trickier [because of tyre degradation], so that does make it interesting in terms of strategy."

Red Bull not flattening Mercedes

At least from the Red Bull camp, the men from Mercedes are still being taken into account. "You certainly can't write them off. We know they have been fast this year. They did open up the engine a bit in their last run. They're going to be competitive, so we're not underestimating them," he said.

Lewis Hamilton, however, thinks the RB16B is going to be far too fast for Mercedes at the Red Bull Ring this weekend as well. The seven-time world champion thinks his team's gap in qualifying is still going to be two-tenths of a second.
