Hamilton has clear objective with contract extension: 'Will be difficult'

On the Saturday morning of the Austrian Grand Prix, Mercedes announced the news that they will stay with Lewis Hamilton for the next two years. It had been expected for some time that Hamilton would stay with the German team, but that it would be announced so early was surprising. Still, Sky Sports pundits Paul di Resta and Johnny Herbert saw it coming.
"It's no surprise. It's on. Why would they not want him in the team. Why would he not want him in the new generation of F1. If there's ever a time they're up against it, they need to get their heads together for some stability now," Di Resta began.
Great fight between Hamilton and Verstappen
"Red Bull and Max Verstappen are on the charge and Lewis needs to be at this best. They need to set the team up to surround him, and absolutely the right choice". Herbert complements his colleague and also notes that Hamilton has a clear goal. "There's a bit of work that needs to be done so that this 8th championship can come his way," he said.
"It's going to be a tough one. If he does achieve it, I think it will be his best championship win because of the fight with Max. There's no doubt that with Max and Lewis fighting it out this year and beyond, is great news for us British fans," Herbert concluded.
