The fact that Max Verstappen and Red Bull are currently head and shoulders above the rest has become clear lately, especially during the triple header where Mercedes couldn't come close to Verstappen.

Jan Lammers said on the NOS Formula 1 podcast that winning is a good remedy to get rid of stress and question marks. "Winning gives time and rest. Winning gives you peace of mind. Because: winning doesn't have to be explained. Now Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are going through what Max and Red Bull have been through all these years." He also knows that they are currently more concerned with explaining things off the track than trying to find the solutions on the track.

"They now have to explain to everyone why they didn't win and losing is so stressful. You're in front of everyone the whole day trying to explain how it is. Losing is much more stress-inducing and complicated."

Hamilton not in best form?

Lammers thinks Mercedes' current performance also has an impact on Hamilton's form. Indeed, he did not see any damage to the British driver's car, despite Hamilton claiming so during and after the race. Lammers thinks it could be an excuse.

"It could be. This way your whole system is disrupted. You are put to the test. Winning is fantastic but annoying because you learn little from it. Losing motivates. So you (Hamilton) have to take the pain of losing with you now and turn it into energy to win later on."

Hamilton will have extra motivation to win another Grand Prix at his home circuit at Silverstone and close the gap with Verstappen.
