Hamilton takes issue with Ecclestone criticism: 'I know myself better'

Following the harsh criticism that former Formula 1 boss recently levelled at Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, the racer was asked for a response today, and it, too, is phrased in no uncertain terms.
Ecclestone recently shared with The Guardian Ecclestone recently shared his unvarnished opinion about the seven-time world champion. In light of his arrears in the world championship as well as his multiple passion projects off the track, Ecclestone opined that Hamilton has lost his former glory form. "Maybe Lewis is not quite the fighter he was anymore," his criticism read.
Asked for his reaction Hamilton is resolute: “No, I'm really not the same driver as I used to be", he is quoted as saying by Speedweek. "I'm better!"
Speculations
Hamilton also responded to Ecclestone's speculation that the driver might not complete the two seasons he recently joined Mercedes for. "And I guess nobody knows me better than I know myself," the Briton concluded. This weekend he will try to close the gap of 32 points to Max Verstappen in front of his home crowd.
