Perez hopes to quickly forget this unpleasant memory of Silverstone

If you try and compare Sergio Perez's race weekends at Silverstone in 2020 and 2021 you will see a world of difference before the race begins on Friday. Not only did the Mexican driver have to settle for a car positioned in midfield the previous year, but he was also forced to miss out on the weekend in England due to his corona contamination at the time.
"It's been a while since I drove here," Perez began in conversation with Speedweek journalists. "I can still remember missing out on Silverstone because of that rotten Covid-19 infection." The driver was replaced by Nico Hulkenberg, who managed to qualify thirteenth but saw the party quickly sour on Sunday due to a technical problem with his on-loan Racing Point.
"Of course, that's not the best memory," concludes the Mexican, and one he will try to replace with a better one soon.
Focus on the positive
Asked for his views on his dramatic race in Austria, where the FIA gave him two-time penalties, Perez says he wants to focus on the positive aspects of that weekend, and take them with him to Silverstone. Perez: "I'm taking the positive with me, namely the speed in qualifying and in the race. I hope that things will go much better now."
