Max Verstappen is having his best ever season as a driver this year since he started his F1 adventure with Toro Rosso. With Red Bull's current car, Verstappen is able to compete for both championships, something that many have been looking forward to for a long time.

According to many people, Verstappen has grown especially as a person on and off the track. In a major interview with the BBC, Verstappen says that he always had the laid-back attitude that he now shows both on and off the field. "I've always been like that. My dad was sometimes a little worried that I couldn't be difficult or that I was too relaxed. But I said, 'Dad, don't worry, this is just the way I like to do it and how I approach it to get into a race weekend or, say, my zone."

The young Dutchman goes on to say that Jos Verstappen still worries more during a Grand Prix weekend than Max himself. "Up until F1 he was still worried about it, but he could also see that he couldn't influence that bit of my preparation. Even now my dad is more excited about the start of the F1 weekend than I am. I get sent so many things, my dad asking questions about the weekend, and I'm like, 'I'll find out when I'm at the track'.

Jos Verstappen taught Max to watch out for himself

Max likes to make use of his father's experiences in Formula 1 and says that thanks to Jos he is so relaxed and carefree. "Having spent a lot of years with my dad, yes." Asked how he taught him this then, Verstappen replied wittily.

"In a lot of different ways. Kind ways. A little bit more angry ways. No, it works for me. I needed it. He made me harder, and that's good." Verstappen will hope to drive around the track a lot more relaxed in the coming years, knowing that he is the one of the top two drivers in the best car.
