BREAKING: Grid penalty for Russell after causing collision with Sainz
- GPblog.com
During sprint qualifying at the Silverstone circuit Carlos Sainz and George Russell collided. Both drivers had to go before the stewards, who believe that Russell caused the incident.
The verdict is out: Russell will be given a three-place grid penalty. It will be a hard lesson for the Williams driver, who qualified ninth in the sprint race. The penalty means that he will have to settle for twelfth on the grid.
The young Briton collided with Sainz after he locked his wheels, pushing the Ferrari off the track. Sainz fell back to 18th place. The Spaniard managed to get back to 11th place, but will not be happy with that place on the grid.
Ironically the two drivers will start from the sixth row of the grid.
