Norris sets unique record, leaving Hamilton and Alonso behind
- GPblog.com
Lando Norris has set a new, special record with McLaren in the British Grand Prix. The young Briton has now reached fifteen consecutive Grands Prix in the points. With that unique performance, he leaves world champions such as Fernando Alonso, Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton behind.
Since the 2020 Emilia Romagna GP (held on 1 November last year), Norris has finished in the top ten in all fifteen races on Sunday. Alonso held the record with fourteen races. In the list, we see according to AS Hakkinen on twelve, while Hamilton at McLaren managed to finish twelve GP's in a row in the points.
Norris bizarrely constant
Norris' performance this season has already been impressive. In 2021 ten Formula 1 weekends have been organised and in nine (!) of these, he managed to finish in the top five. Only in Spain did Norris finish lower, in eighth place. That consistency has earned him a nice third place in the world championship.
There is a significant chance that Norris will further strengthen his record. McLaren seems to have a good chance of a good result in the Hungarian Grand Prix next week. The Woking-based team is also taking updates, so a sixteenth top-ten finish in a row seems imminent.
