The ongoing title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen lends itself well to analysis of the specific areas where the two drivers differ. It's not just on the track that the two drivers have their own style, but also off the track that they follow their own distinctive strategies, according to the experts at F1 Nation.
Talking about Verstappen's specific mentality towards the media, Tom Clarkson comes up with an example. When he asked the Dutchman how his last name should be pronounced he was given a surprising answer. Clarkson explained, on the F1 Nation podcast: "Verstappen said: ‘I don’t care how you pronounce it, what does it matter?’ I think that’s quite an insight into his attitude towards the whole thing."
The analysis continued with former driver Allan McNish. He sees an essential difference in mentality in the comparison between Red Bull and Mercedes. "We all know Jos, and they’re cut from the same cloth, so certainly in that respect i dont think they care too much."
McNish continued: "Their job is to go out and win races, and that is also Red Bull’s mentality, it’s not necessarily to be on the front of fashion magazines and things like that. Basically, Helmut Marko hires him for one job and one job only, to win a world championship."
