McLaren is working on an excellent season. Where Lando Norris is in third place in the world championship, McLaren and Ferrari occupy the same position in the constructors' championship. For Zak Brown however, it is not enough.

The McLaren CEO has big plans for the team and expects to be competing for the world title in three years time. "I think in the 2024 season we will have no more excuses, and I hope that by then the sport will be so competitive that there will be several teams fighting for the championship. And I hope that we will be one of them," he told Motorsport.com.

It doesn't mean Brown wants to wait for three years, as he hopes to be in contention for the top spot this season as well. Although he realises that this will be difficult. "Until then we will do our utmost with the material we have, but I think it will be difficult to beat Mercedes and Red Bull in a direct duel."

Difficult season for Brown

Daniel Ricciardo has yet to come close to Norris. The experienced Australian has a whopping 63 points less than his teammate and is ninth in the standings.
