Leclerc happy with Ferrari improvement: "Better than expected"

Ferrari are on the better side after a very poor 2020 with stronger performances in 2021. According to Charles Leclerc, those performances don't come out of the blue and says the better performance is 'no surprise' to him.
Much better than in 2020
Ferrari came out of the 2021 season a lot stronger despite not being allowed to make many changes to the cars this winter. Leclerc has worked closely with his team in recent months and had expected the improvement after the hard work in the factory. "Better than expected, " Leclerc said of the season according to Motorsport.com.
"I think there is a lot of work behind, and obviously I can see it whenever I go in Maranello, here at the track. So it's not a complete surprise," the Monegasque continued. Leclerc has already won two pole positions and almost won the British Grand Prix in 2021. Teammate Carlos Sainz has been on the podium twice already.
Ferrari still has a long way to go
"Obviously there is a big gain compared to last year, which is great to see, and it shows we are doing something right in the way we work. But it's not the end of the road, and we have as a target to be back on top," Leclerc concluded.
