Max Verstappen is preparing for the Belgian Grand Prix, where he hopes to surpass Lewis Hamilton again in the world championship. A week later, the race at Zandvoort awaits, which according to Jan Lammers will not be easy for him psychologically.

The sporting director of the Dutch Grand Prix knows better than anyone what it's like to race in your own country. Lammers drove the race in the Netherlands twice and can still perfectly remember how the pressure feels to go on the track in the Netherlands.

The former driver therefore warns Verstappen that there will be a lot on his plate. "The home Grand Prix are the hardest," Lammers explained in an interview with NH News. "Look at Perez: the Grand Prix of Mexico is the toughest for him."

Lammers versus Verstappen

Where the current teams do everything to give the drivers an optimal preparation, it was different in Lammers' time. "I was outlawed, everyone was jumping all over each other and throwing a microphone in front of you. You were happy if you could go to bed on time in the evening. And once you were lying down, your head was still spinning like a centrifuge."
