Sebastian Vettel has been in the spotlight more and more lately. Not only because of his podium finish in Hungary, which he later lost to Lewis Hamilton but also because of the positive way in which he does his bit for nature conservation.

The 34-year-old driver from Heppenheim doesn't do social media, so his actions went unnoticed for a while. This was brought to an end when footage emerged showing him helping to clear the stands after the Silverstone Grand Prix.

It was also revealed that the Aston Martin driver had opened an insect hotel in Austria, where he taught local children about the importance of insects, especially bees, for nature conservation.

Vettel doesn't think social media is necessary for activism

However, he still doesn't see the point of getting into social media. "They are of course very good channels to reach a lot of people with," he tells Gazzetta dello Sport. "But it depends on what you want to achieve: do you want to show what socks you wear or do you want to achieve more?"

"If I have an important message, I don't need my own platform to spread it. The message will get through. It's more about taking the right steps," Vettel continued. "If I can inspire one person with that, that's enough. It wasn't a campaign, I did it for myself and to set an example," said the four-time world champion.
