Josef Newgarden managed to win the IndyCar race at Gateway last Saturday. The American beat Patricio O'Ward who finished just half a second behind the winner. For Alex Palou, the race ended early.
New leader in the championship
A spectacular race on the short oval at Gateway was won by Newgarden on Saturday night. O'Ward finished second and Will Power was the last man on the podium. O'Ward's result and Alex Palou's retirement made the Mexican the new leader in the championship with three races to go.
Romain Grosjean felt like a 'real rookie' at Gateway, as the Frenchman was racing an oval for the first time. He did this not without merit, in a field full of experience on ovals, the Frenchman finished fourteenth and takes home a lot of experience.
