The summer break is over and the second half of the season starts this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Max Verstappen is looking forward to it.

"I had a nice holiday in the Caribbean and also enjoyed myself jet skiing in Monaco. It's not wrong to be busy with other things than Formula 1 for a few weeks, but I'm ready for the restart. After one week I already was. As a driver you are ready to step into the cockpit every weekend", the Dutchman told the Dutch news website NOS.

Due to bad luck in Silverstone and Hungary Verstappen lost a lot of championship points. "It is of course our goal to straighten out the standings in the championship", says the 23-year-old driver. "The atmosphere in the team is fine. We have had many good races and are competitive. The car is much better than last year and we can really fight with Mercedes."

Two home races in a row

Spa and Zandvoort are part of the upcoming triple-header and Verstappen will therefore experience two home races in a row. "Two weekends a lot of orange in the stands, which is very nice. Zandvoort will be interesting. It's a very cool circuit. I won a Formula 3 race there and already drove a few 'showruns' with old Formula 1 cars, but I think in the current generation of F1 cars it's really a very fast track."

The Dutchman hasn't practiced much for Zandvoort yet. "I haven't been in the simulator for Zandvoort. We don't have a good idea of the circuit yet and have to guess a bit, but after the first practice, you usually know which way to go in terms of setting up the car. I'm now busy with Spa and want to enjoy myself here first."
