Sergio Perez has extended his contract at Red Bull Racing. The Mexican has clearly impressed the management of the Austrian team. Christian Horner speaks of a 'highly respected team member'.
Perez moved from Racing Point to Red Bull Racing in 2021 to replace Alexander Albon. The Mexican lost his Racing Point seat to Sebastian Vettel, but got a place at a top team in return. At Red Bull, he won his first Grand Prix for the team and qualified once ahead of Verstappen.
Confidence in Perez
''Checo is a highly respected team member and his experience and racing skills will be invaluable as we fight for the constructors' championship. His integration into the wider team has been seamless and we have been impressed with his performance during the first half of the season, which shows what he is capable of in our car'', Horner revealed in the press release.
''Next year we enter a new era in Formula 1, with completely revised regulations and cars. With over 200 races and a decade of experience under its belt, Checo will play an integral role in helping the team navigate this transition and get the most out of the RB18. Our current focus is on finishing the 2021 season as strong as possible and we look forward to seeing Checo build on a first successful season with the team'', concludes the Red Bull Racing team boss.
