Provisional starting grid Dutch GP: Verstappen in front, Hamilton in wake
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen took pole position during the qualification of the Dutch GP. The Dutchman was faster than Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas who finished respectively on the second and third place.
The Red Bull Racing driver avoided a grid penalty before qualifying for overtaking Lance Stroll in the second free practice session. The same was true of Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher during qualifying. Both men were in such a fight with each other that they held up Sebastian Vettel, causing the German to fall short of Q2.
Vettel was disappointed with the moment afterwards, after which the race committee decided to look into the incident. They felt it was not enough to give the Haas men a penalty, so both drivers will start Sunday's race from positions nineteen and twenty. Sergio Pérez will start from P16, but Helmut Marko already indicated that the Austrians might have to work on the engine.
