Bottas: "As a team we got solid points"
Valtteri Bottas played a supportive role in the Dutch Grand Prix and finished third. The Mercedes driver led the race at one point, and by doing so slowed down Max Verstappen but ultimately it proved unsuccessful with the Dutchman winning in front of his home fans.
Whilst Bottas followed those team orders during the race, towards the end of the race the Finnish driver tried to steal the fastest lap point away from Hamilton. The Brit subsequently pitted and regained the point for the World Championship.
Bottas reacts
In the interview after the race, Bottas claimed that he didn't go for the fastest lap. On the radio, Mercedes told him to abort after the first two purple sectors.
"Unfortunately for me, it was uneventful. kept pushing but we tried a one-stop, but at the end, we had a big gap so we made a stop for safety basically. We didn't have enough pace today. I didn't go for the fastest lap, but Lewis got it so as a team we got solid points," Bottas said in the interview after the race.
