'Russell signed Mercedes contract Sunday at Zandvoort'

The George Russell deal now appears to be in the works. According to The Daily Mail, the last signatures were put on the circuit of Zandvoort on Sunday. With that nothing stands in the way of a move from Russell to Mercedes.
It is still unclear for how many years Russell has signed with Toto Wolff's team. It is said that it is a long-term contract. In that case, the Mercedes line-up for 2023 would already be known, because Lewis Hamilton is also still under contract that year.
Russell is currently fifteenth in the world championship. The 23-year old driver currently has thirteen points, nine of which he owes to his second place in the cancelled Belgian Grand Prix. At Spa Francorchamps, half points were awarded.
Russell already made his debut for Mercedes
Russell has three seasons with the Williams team after 2021. The young Briton scored only one other time points for his current employer. That was before the summer break in Hungary when he finished eighth. It will not be his official debut for Mercedes though, as he replaced Hamilton last year at the Sakhir GP. In his new teammate's car, he finished ninth.
