Carlos Sainz will have to start next Sunday's race from the back of the grid. Ferrari has decided to give the Spanish driver a new engine after Charles Leclerc got one in Russia.

Although the upgrade for Sainz only applies to the hybrid part of the hardware he will still get a full new power unit. He will make good use of the two DRS zones at Istanbul Park this weekend due to his grid penalty.

"Like Charles Leclerc in Russia, Carlos Sainz will take a brand new powertrain with the new hybrid system to Turkey. He will therefore start from the back with the aim of moving up the grid to try and score points," Ferrari confirmed according to Sky Sports.

Binotto will not be present

In addition, team boss Mattia Binotto will also not be present at the race this weekend. Instead, he will be overseeing from the factory in Italy. Here he will focus on the development of the new car for 2022.
