George Russell will drive for Mercedes in 2022, but the Briton says he is yet to think about that, and is only focused on Williams at the moment. The driver therefore states that his bond with Lewis Hamilton has not changed yet.

In 2022, there will be a new and interesting duel at Mercedes. With the arrival of Russell, the relations within the team will be put on edge again. Russell is still driving for Williams, however, where he has a firm grip on the reins. Despite the calm situation within his own team, Russell is not yet involved with Mercedes.

"To be honest no, the bond with Lewis hasn't changed yet, but I'm sure it will grow once we start working together more. To be honest I haven't really been thinking about 2022 yet. I think everyone wants to get this season over with first, we're all still in our own battles at the moment", Russell said to Motorsport.com.

"It would be too early for me to merge the two right now because it would only be a distraction, for me and for the team. But as soon as the time is right, I'm going to give myself absolutely 120 percent to make sure we start the new season well prepared", concluded the future Mercedes driver.
