Alpine is busy with a big reorganisation and there is no room for Remi Taffin. The engine chief has been working for the French in Formula 1 since 1999, but after more than twenty years that adventure comes to an end. Taffin has found a place to stay. Starting next season he will be working for chassis builder Oreca.
Taffin is now leaving Formula 1 for the time being. In August he was rumoured to be linked to Red Bull Racing. The Austrian racing team will start the Powertrains project next year and is looking for experienced technicians. It has become clear that Taffin will not be joining Milton Keynes.
Taffin has achieved great success in the pinnacle of motorsport over the years, as he engineered Fernando Alonso to two world championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006, and as engine chief between 2010-2013 he was jointly responsible for Sebastian Vettel's four world titles with Red Bull Racing with a Renault engine.
Oreca
Taffin will, according to Motorsport.com Taffin will oversee the chassis and engine divisions at Oreca. Oreca is a French team primarily involved in long-distance racing. "I can't wait to get started at Oreca, a benchmark in the motorsport world and especially in long-distance racing. The challenges involved in staying at the front and the culture and diversity of the current and future Oreca projects has definitely convinced me, I also want to play an important role in the next stages of Oreca's development."
