Team qualifying duels | Hamilton and Verstappen score again
- GPblog.com
For a while it looked like Sergio Perez was going to take pole, but in the end it was Max Verstappen who beat his teammate. The Dutchman is now further ahead in the qualifying duels. How did the rest of the field fare?
In addition to Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel, Pierre Gasly, Antonio Giovinazzi, George Russell and Mick Schumacher are also running further ahead of their teammate.
The contrast is particularly striking at AlphaTauri and Williams, where every qualifying duel of the season so far has been won by one driver. Both Gasly and Russell face their teammate at 17-0.
At McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo, who is in his element in Texas, is just a point ahead of Lando Norris. Also at Alpine, Esteban Ocon manages to make up a point on Fernando Alonso, although that needs some qualification: Alonso will start from the back due to an engine change.
