This happened last year at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez

The Formula 1 teams are back at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez this weekend after two years. The Mexican circuit was not on the racing calendar last year because of the corona pandemic, but this year the fans can enjoy Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton again. What happened in the meantime on the circuit?
Last year the Mexican Grand Prix was supposed to take place but the corona crisis threw a spanner in the works. Several countries decided not to allow a Formula 1 race, including Mexico. It didn't mean that Mexico kept the circuit completely empty though because the country decided to use the space smartly. Mexico built a hospital to help people with the coronavirus to come out on top that the country only broke off this year.
Since a GP was back on the racing calendar in 2021, Mexico had to give the circuit back despite the persistence of the coronavirus pandemic. The organisation then had to work hard in the past weeks to get everything ready in time to receive the Formula 1. However, it turned out they had enough preparation time to get it done.
Formula E-race moved
For a while, it was questionable whether the Formula 1 race in 2021 could go ahead. Because of the corona figures in the country, the organisation decided this summer to move the Formula E race to Puebla. However, it let it be known early on that Formula 1 had nothing to worry about. Due to excellent work, Mercedes and Red Bull Racing can therefore continue the title fight this weekend.
