Verstappen: 'My tyres made me miss the apex'

In the end, it was one of the most talked about moments in the Brazilian Grand Prix: the failed overtaking manoeuvre of Lewis Hamilton on Max Verstappen, where both drivers went off track for a moment.
Didn't make the apex
Verstappen himself says he can do little about the incident. Speaking to Motorsport.com he said: "The tyres were already a bit worn, so I was really on the edge of grip. That's why I think I was already not fully on the apex, so then it's a safer way of just running a bit wide there."
In the end, the stewards decided not to penalise Verstappen for the incident. The leader in the World Championship standings appreciated that decision. "In a way I was, of course, happy that the stewards decided that we could just keep on racing because I think the racing in general was really good." Verstappen said.
Different from Silverstone
Motorsport.com also asked Verstappen if there might be similarities to the crash at Silverstone. "I don't think it's the same (...). It's a completely different corner as well. So yeah, there's not much more to comment, it's not the same."
