Max Verstappen seemed to be heading for the world title after the Mexican Grand Prix, but nothing is further from the truth. After two wins by Lewis Hamilton, the Briton is back in the race. Jan Lammers expects that we will only know in Abu Dhabi who will become world champion.

Prior to the race weekend in Qatar Lammers was convinced that Verstappen only needed one more victory to secure victory, but in conversation with NOS Studio Sport he changed his mind. The analyst sees the tension increasing with two GP's to go.

According to Lammers, it is important for Verstappen to win in Saudi Arabia. "If it goes like this again there and Hamilton can set the fastest lap, then they are equal in the number of points. Then a lot of people will be on the edge of their seats," he says.

Battle between Mercedes and Red Bull

He also addressed the accusations that Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are making at each other behind the scenes. "It's a bit of politics that you do. Of course, you try to irritate the other as much as possible," said Lammers, who thinks Verstappen is also using the situation to his advantage. "That could also be to keep the attention away from himself. You never know what exactly the motives are."
