Fans don't have to worry about Verstappen doing a 'Rosberg'
- GPblog.com
Nico Rosberg surprised friend and foe in 2016 by announcing his retirement as a driver immediately after winning his first World Championship title in Formula 1. At least we don't have to worry about Max Verstappen repeating that stunt should he top the world championship at the end of the 2021 season.
Prior to the Qatar Grand Prix Verstappen spoke with the BBC. In the interview the 24-year-old Dutchman was asked what his next goal would be should he win the world championship this year.
Speaking to journalist Jennie Gow, he said: "In F1, not so much because...that's it, you have completed it and it doesn't matter anymore how many you win because you have already won one. Of course, I would try to win more but...that's done, that's the final goal and I will, of course, work very hard to achieve that, and after that, there is less pressure."
Winning titles outside F1
Verstappen reveals that he is far from finished in Formula 1 for the time being, but he does not rule out the possibility that he will give up on becoming successful in other racing classes at some point. "Of course, I will have a lot of fun driving but then maybe slowly you start thinking of other stuff outside of Formula 1."
