Robert Kubica will stay on as Alfa Romeo's reserve driver in 2022. The Pole, who filled in for corona-infected Kimi Raikkonen for two races this season, will remain on the payroll next year as well.

A lot will change at Alfa Romeo in 2022. The Italian brand, which still operates out of Switzerland as the namesake of the former Sauber, will start next season with a completely new line-up. Valtteri Bottas is the replacement for Raikkonen and Guanyu Zhou takes the place of Antonio Giovinazzi.

Kubica stays with Alfa Romeo

Alongside these changes, the role of Sauber talent, Theo Pourchaire, will also increase. The Frenchman is the most talented driver from Sauber and already impressed in F2 in 2021. He already won two races and is currently fifth in the championship. In 2022 he will be aiming for an F1 title, but also a possible reserve role with Alfa Romeo.

With the reserves, however, one thing will remain the same, as Kubica will also stay on as Alfa's reserve and test driver. PKN Orlen has extended its contract with Frederic Vasseur's team and has also arranged a reserve role for Kubica.
