New blow for Ferrari: Sainz has to retire early
- GPblog.com
Carlos Sainz saw the Azerbaijan Grand Prix go down the drain early on. The Spaniard ended up running into the run-off area within ten laps because of a hydraulic failure. This leaves only Charles Leclerc driving on behalf of Ferrari.
It is the third time this season that Sainz has had to abandon the race early. Where in Australia and Imola it was mainly his own fault, this time his car broke down.
Difficult weekend of Sainz in Baku
The driver failed to pass Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez this weekend. In both free practice and qualifying, he finished behind his competitors. In qualifying, he therefore drove the fourth-fastest time.
Sainz hoped to have a good chance to drive into the top three in the race, but on the first lap he still failed to get past the trio. his teammate Leclerc had to give up his first place to Sergio Perez. So, after that disappointment, Ferrari also had to take Sainz's early retirement.
