Hungarian Grand Prix start | Russell holds off Ferrari
- GPblog.com
George Russell took full advantage of his first pole position at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Briton held off Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc to retain first position.
Both Ferrari drivers tried hard to thwart Russell at the start. The drivers had an excellent start and therefore had the opportunity to pass the British driver, but Russell defended well and kept his first place.
Max Verstappen also had an excellent start. The Dutchman had to try and move up from tenth to seventh in the fastest time possible. He overtook Sergio Perez, who started from eleventh and could move up to seventh on the grid.
Norris and Hamilton hope for top three
Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton were also satisfied with their start. They are just behind the top three and therefore have the opportunity to attack the Ferrari drivers. However, the gap is more than three seconds in favour of the Italian team.
