Sainz holds onto lead, as Hamilton cuts Turn 1 at the Singapore Grand Prix
- Toby McLuskie
Carlos Sainz retained the lead at the start of the Singapore Grand Prix but did get Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc breathing down his neck in the first few laps of the race. Lewis Hamilton shot straight through on the opening lap, after which he had to give back two positions to Mercedes teammate George Russell and McLaren driver Lando Norris. Max Verstappen got away well at the start and began his catch-up race, while Sergio Perez ran into Yuki Tsunoda further down the track. The AlphaTauri driver saw his race end early due to the puncture he suffered in the process.
