Max Verstappen got away well at the start and immediately won a position by overtaking Lewis Hamilton. After qualifying the Dutchman still thought that the third starting position would be the wrong one.
P2 for Verstappen
After the Red Bull Racing driver came away he immediately took over second place from Hamilton. Pierre Gasly lost a spot. He was pushed out by Hamilton and had to let Daniel Ricciardo pass him.
In the rear it went wrong for Lance Stroll. The Canadian came into contact with Esteban Ocon and lost part of his front wing. In Tosa Kevin Magnussen was tapped in the round by Sebastian Vettel and came riding in the back.
