In order to solve the problems with smoothness, the race organisers have come up with a special solution at Istanbul Park. Last night, the circuit sent a number of road cars onto the track to lay down some more rubber.

Road cars

On the video you can clearly see that a number of street cars are winding along the slippery track. Lee Mathurin, a mechanic of McLaren, made a video of them and shared it on Twitter.

On Friday, several drivers complained about the poor condition of the track. The organisation had cleaned the track just before the start of FP1 and FP2, turning the track into an ice rink.

No F2 or F3

Because there are no support races during the weekend of the Turkish Grand Prix, it is difficult to quickly get extra rubber on the track. Formula 1 has therefore chosen to give the road cars some laps on the track.
