Fernando Alonso finished in P2 on Saturday in Miami, after Q3 was cut short due to Charles Leclerc crashing on his final lap. This is a positive outcome for Aston Martin, especially after Lance Stroll was already knocked out in Q1.

Following the post-qualifying interview, the Spaniard said: “FP3 was messy for us because we tried a few set up things, but the team put the car in a more known place and the car came alive. I am extremely happy with P2. I enjoyed the laps.

Alonso was also positively surprised with how the session went from him. “I didn't have the team believing in my performance and my ability to set up the car and move forward. I also never had a fast car as I had now. I didn't change anything Aston Martin changed for me,” the former two-time champion added.
