Verstappen once again warns of F1 exit as engine change
Ahead of the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen said in an interview that he fully expects to remain on the grid in 2027 barring any extraordinary developments. After the Miami Grand Prix, "in principle," an agreement with the engine manufacturers to change the power split in the engines from 50/50 to 60/40 was announced by the FIA.
After qualifying however, Verstappen once again said he would
reconsider leaving the series if the aforementioned changes are delayed until 2028. The reigning world champion described the current situation as mentally exhausting from a driver’s perspective, warning that enduring another full season under the same conditions would be difficult for him.
Russell receives stewards' verdict after throwing headrest following Canadian GP DNF
George Russell was involved in a hard-fought battle with teammate Kimi Antonelli at the Canadian Grand Prix until his Mercedes suddenly stopped on Lap 31 in Montreal. Russell was visibly frustrated and threw his headrest out of the car before climbing out. That also earned him a visit to the stewards after the race.
In the end, he received a
€5,000 suspended fine. He also offered a
public apology, which he delivered on Monday. As a result, five rounds into the season, Antonelli leads the drivers’ standings by 43 points ahead of Russell.
