De Vries defends his title with Mercedes: A third season in Formula E

Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne will continue to compete for Mercedes' Formula E team in the 2021-2022 season. This was announced during the team presentation prior to the new season.
Last year, De Vries managed to win the Formula E title in his second season for the Mercedes team. For a long time, there were rumours about a possible chance for the Dutchman in Formula 1 and he also did an IndyCar test, but in the new season of 2021-2022, the reigning champion will simply come to defend his title.
De Vries can defend his title
''A new season always brings new challenges and being the reigning champion will spice things up a bit, so I'm really excited about the prospect of getting back into racing and being able to defend our two championship titles,'' the former F2 champion revealed in the press release.
In 2021-2022, De Vries will again be joined by the Belgian. ''Continuity in Formula E is always a good thing, because the margins between drivers and teams are very small, so building a good relationship with your crew is of the utmost importance. You really need to understand each other, what you need from the car, what you need to improve it and be able to perform. All these factors help enormously'', concludes the former F1 driver.
The FE season starts on 29 November with a winter test at Valencia. The first race of the season is January 28 in Saudi Arabia. This will be Mercedes' last season in Formula E. The following year the new generations of cars will be launched, in which Mercedes will not participate.
