Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have equal points in the world championship after 21 Grands Prix. If both drivers do not score points in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Verstappen will be the champion because he has more GPs to his name in 2021. Toto Wolff, however, does not think it will come to that.

In a media session with various media, including Motorsport-Total. com , Wolff is asked if the situation will escalate next week. A joint crash will ensure Verstappen becomes world champion. "I don't think it will escalate. Today there were so many warning shots for everyone involved. I think it will end nicely."

Was Red flag the right decision?

The first red flag came at a most unfortunate time for Mercedes and Hamilton. Verstappen thus got the lead of the rce due to a free tyre change under the race suspension."It was unfortunate, but I think it was still the right thing to do. Safety comes first. What happened after that [the restart by Verstappen] was racing on the limit maybe over it."

Speaking to Germany's Sky , the Mercedes team boss went on to say that he was extremely happy with the win, although it won't go down in the books as the best ever. "I think Lewis deserved to win the race. I don't want to wash dirty laundry here; it was a spectacular race, but certainly not a good one."
