Max Verstappen has secured the ideal starting position for Saturday's Abu Dhabi GP as he will line up from pole position. Lewis Hamilton will be alongside the Dutchman on the front row, and Lando Norris will start in third. A good starting position is important on this circuit, as the polesitter has won each of the past six races at the Abu Dhabi track, and of course, because the world champion will be decided tomorrow. It will therefore be a battle for the first corner between Verstappen and Hamilton.

When will the Abu Dhabi GP start?

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will start at 13:00 on Sunday afternoon. The drivers will complete 55 laps of the Yas Marina circuit. The finish is expected around 14:30.

This edition of the Abu Dhabi GP will be very exciting. On Friday we saw that Verstappen was the fastest in the first free practice. Hamilton was then fastest in the other practices, but on Saturday afternoon Verstappen managed to take pole position with the help of teammate Sergio Pérez.

Unprecedented tension

After all the build-up to this weekend, it is now down to Sunday's race. At the beginning of the weekend it looked like Hamilton was the faster of him and Verstappen, but surprisingly the Dutchman was quickest during qualifying. It now all comes down to the race to find out who will be crowned the 2021 Formula 1 world champion.
