Perez helped Verstappen: "A second time would have probably gone wrong".

Sergio Perez proved on Saturday in Abu Dhabi that he can be there when Red Bull Racing need him. He perfectly provided a tow for his teammate, which secured pole for Max Verstappen. He is very happy with the way qualifying went for the team.
"Fortunately it worked perfectly," said a glowing Perez to Ziggo Sport. "It's very difficult to time it, because if you get too close you can actually hinder him. If we had tried that a second time it would probably have gone wrong. I'm happy for Max and for the team."

As usual, the Mexican is also critical of himself. He indicates that he would have preferred to start third, but since he gave up his first run to help his teammate he can certainly be satisfied with a fourth starting place. "I wish that I could have been P3, and I think I lost that in the final corner but still its a great team result. I think there is a lot we can do. It won't make any difference. Hopefully, we can have a good start and go from there."
He also thinks that he can play a role to help his teammate in the race. "If I can overtake Lando quickly I can join the front of the field and hopefully be in a position from which I can help Max," Perez concluded.
