Windsor blames Masi: 'He didn't choose either option he had'

The final stage of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was crazy. The safety car came on the track with a few laps to go. Michael Masi decided that there would be one more lap to the finish, much to the dismay of F1 journalist and former F1 sponsor manager Peter Windsor.
Windsor unhappy with race management
The wreckage of Nicholas Latifi 's car was cleared very quickly following his crash on lap 52. The safety car was brought in just in time to complete one more race. With Max Verstappen fetching fresh tyres in the pit lane during the safety car, it was almost certain that the Dutchman would pass Lewis Hamilton on that lap.
Windsor is not happy with the decision of the race committee to resume the race for one lap. Instead, the race should have been completed under the safety car, which would have made Hamilton the champion of 2021.
Masi had two options
In a YouTube video the F1 connoisseur analyses: "There was a massive mistake made on that last lap of the race in Abu Dhabi. The restart should never have happened." There were two options according to the Briton for the race committee to end the race fairly.
Because Michael Masi has the so-called power to reject and overrule certain rules, he could also have chosen not to let the lapped cars overtake. The second option was to let all the cars that were a lap behind pass him, thus ending the race behind the safety car. Windsor blamed Masi: "He didn't do either of those things."
