Carlos Sainz had an excellent first season with his new employer Ferrari. With four podiums, 164.5 points and a fifth place in the championship, 2021 was the Spaniard's best season so far, but he wants more.

No team leader at Ferrari

Speaking to the Italian branch of Sky Sports at a karting event in Spain Sainz looked back on last season. The Ferrari driver said he is very satisfied and that he achieved his goals for this season. According to Sainz there is no team leader at Ferrari, but he is happy that he finished above teammate Charles Leclerc in the championship. "It's important to beat the only driver driving the same car, but I don't think it will change my status within Ferrari."

Battle with Verstappen and Hamilton

Sainz revealed that he is keen to battle it out with the two 2021 title rivals next year. "[Max] Verstappen and [Lewis] Hamilton are not unbeatable," For next season, then, he has a small request. "I'd like a Ferrari that's as fast as a rocket, I'll take care of the rest."

Sainz revealed that he has already had a brief drive in the car for 2022. According to the Spaniard, it's going to be very different to drive, but he says he can adapt quickly. In a few months we will know if Sainz can compete with Verstappen and Hamilton.
